What's happening around Attica?

Here's last week's notable screenshots and projects springing up in and around the city. I must say that the new citizens are quite industrious and diligent in gathering their materials for their respective abodes - some have even picked up trading!

Man's best friend.

Ferrasan's Floating House

Nuclear Test Site circa Summer 2011

Ferrasan creeps up on camwhore Batman

Dungeon! With a special appearance by an Enderman!

Assessing the situation...

Room cleared?

Or not - KFC579 is slain by a hiding zombie, as his compatriots 567kenison checks a chest idly and redblue23 arrives royally late.

Firepig102's Fort/Castle above a paranoid cacti defence.

The Pigsty in all its glory and ruined farmland.

Masyaf Mountains is an impressive example of stone masonry.

Of course, the stone mason and lord of the lands himself (567kenison) is also lord over a host of wild/domesticated lifeforms.

Including chickens...

Burning ones, in fact.

Finger licking good.
Ghasts... wait, what?
Masyaf Castle Towers teeming with lifestock.

That elusive and picture perfect moment of finding diamond. Ferrasan is of course no stranger to such moments as well.

The less than picture perfect moment of a staged group shot.

Like a bawse.

The adventures of Firepig102 and Ferrasan in lava pools.

More Masyaf Mountain panoramic views.

Left: New Wayne Factory Farms almost complete, thanks to KyleS's design & persistence; and also procrastination since the building is still unroofed.

Attica Central Towers rise above the development lands in Downtown Attica.
A partially completed railway will link this core structure with the Business District.

That's if the Ghasts spawning in the West Suburbs don't blow the City up.

New Residence Plug-in!

Dear Citizens of Attica,

A new job opens in these fair lands! Real Estate Agent. That's right! With Residence, you are able to map out, create and sell or rent your buildings at any price.

With this system however, those who are interested will have to learn the tricks of the trade. Creating your own residence and then selling it or charging rent will not be an easy feat. You can learn all about it here:

http://residencebukkitmod.wikispaces.com/Creating%2C+protecting+and+modifying+a+seclection

The guide will walk you through the selection and creation of a specific area (blocks included) of space you will be selling or renting out, and you map it out using a wooden axe (1 click in point A, 1 click in point B and so forth).

With new houses however, will be a leasing system from the government. More info? Read on or email cityofattica@gmail.com to ask further questions!

Stay sharp.

Firepig102 & noisytable

Daring duo who made their way out in the wild, at night, during what was Firepig102's first night out in Minecraft.
noisytable (Ryu) making his wooden house on a rather nice island.

ijohanndee

Smartest zombie alive, working on his second elevator.
If zombies were that smart, I'd eat their flesh gladly.

Trading 101 in Attica

Hello Good Citizens of Attica,

This is just a brief overview of trading and commerce in Attica. I say trading because there is a market for goods for you to buy, sell and exchange; as well as a common currency. So here are a few pointers for you to get started.

The economy in Attica are dollars and cents. You can type /money to check your balance. Other helpful commands include /money pay [playername] [amount]. This is to pay your suppliers or anyone else you owe money to.

          1. Get a job

There are many jobs to choose from. I will leave explaining classes for a later post, but right off the bat it is important to choose jobs that get resources. This includes wood, stone, crops, ore, sand, dirt.

There are two good reasons for getting a job:

a. You want to have items that you can sell or trade with on the market. The more stuff you can supply, the better of you are making bargains, stocking up your shops (more on this later)

b. You want to earn income by performing the tasks that your job class requires you to do to get money. For example, as a miner each cobblestone you break gives you a couple dollars; as a lumberjack each log you cut down gives you money and so forth - you get the idea.

          2. Set up shop

After you have collected a sizable amount of resources, you may choose to either keep them to trade with another, or perhaps setting up your own shop may seem like an attractive option. Needless to say, selling your resources to your fellow citizens seems like a good idea, and it also establishes your reputation as a mogul or rich man as you dominate the market.

The first few things to consider are:

a. What am I going to sell?

Think about what people demand or need, and what you can offer. Is there a market you can tap into? There isn't affordable coloured wool anywhere yet - maybe I can set up a coloured wool shop to cater to those fashionistas or architects out there! Or maybe there isn't a shop for rotten flesh yet, but chances are there won't be demand for that, so think carefully about what people need and what you can supply.

b. How much am I going to sell [items] for?

Think about how much you will price your items. They should be lower than the Wayne Tower's General Store (more on this later), and should be priced accordingly. So, if Wayne Tower sells cobblestone for 750 per 64 stack, I might want to sell them for let's say, 720 per 64 stack, just so I can be competitive.

c. Can I keep up with the supply?

Once I set up my shop, can I continuously provide supply for the items I am selling? The worst thing is when you set up a cake shop, put in 10 cakes, sell them for really cheap, run out in less than 10 minutes, and have someone else open up a shop to take your business away. You snooze you lose.

Torchshop
Owner: Denniskam
Sells: Torches, Coal, basic supplies

3. Putting up your first chest shop

  • First, have a chest and sign ready.
  • Second, have your stock of items you wish to sell ready.
  • Third, place a chest onto the ground.
  • Forth, place your items in the chest.
  • Fifth, place the sign[s] above your chest[s], like so:
  • Sixth, type these in the sign:

Name: Your gamename.
Number: Number of items you wish to sell per click (its left mouse button to buy, right mouse button to sell)
B: Buy for
S: Sell for
x & y: Your desired prices.
Item name: the item you are selling without spaces.

Good luck, citizens.
